Amazon Colours celebrates 20 colourful years

Happy Birthday Amazon Colours

Today we celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Amazon Colours!

On 1st September 2003 the company started production via a toll manufacturer in South Africa. After moving into a dedicated factory in Johannesburg the following year, Amazon Colours went on to open additional branches in Durban and Cape Town. Sales soon expanded to other African countries and by 2010 we opened full manufacturing facilities in Thailand. In 2013 a Colour Lab launched in Vietnam and a factory in Indonesia in 2017. Today Amazon Colours services the entire South-East Asian market and Bangladesh. Equipped with the latest production technology, skilled staff, stringent quality control, advanced R&D and Colour Labs, Amazon Colours proudly continues to supply the decorative paint market with high-quality, cost-effective colourants and pigment dispersions.

A BIG THANK YOU to our various teams, our customers, suppliers and distributors for bringing us this far! Cheers to all of you!

Happy Mother’s Day

Happy Mother's Day

In Thailand, Mother’s Day falls on August 12th, the birthday of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother.

During this day, white jasmine flowers are a common sight in Thailand, as they symbolize the purity of a mother’s unconditional love.

World Ocean Day

Call to Support World Oceans Day!

Today, on World Oceans Day, we join hands with others around the world to celebrate and protect our magnificent, but endangered oceans. As an eco-conscious company, Amazon Colours believes it’s crucial to take action to preserve our fragile marine ecosystems.

With their stunning coastlines and diverse marine life, both Thailand and Indonesia (the countries where we operate), have a unique responsibility to protect their oceans. Like elsewhere in the world, Thailand and Indonesia’s tourism sectors heavily rely on the beauty of their beaches and their critical fishing industries rely on the vitality of their seas. By supporting World Oceans Day, we demonstrate a commitment to support sustainable tourism and responsible fishing practices.

Our company’s eco-warrior, Tuffy, encourages us to become guardians of our oceans and to take achievable active steps such as:

  • Reducing pollution,
  • Reducing plastic waste,
  • Participating in beach clean-ups, and,
  • Supporting initiatives that promote sustainable fishing and marine protection.

By working together, we can contribute to restoring our threatened ocean ecosystems before it is too late.

Safety at Work

Celebrating National Day of Safety at Work

On 10 May, Thailand’s Ministry of Labour marked the NATIONAL DAY OF SAFETY AT WORK 2023, calling on employers to prioritize workplace safety across all sectors. This annual commemoration serves as a reminder of the tragic fire incident in 1993 and highlights the importance of protecting the health and safety of workers in all professions.

Amazon Colours’ Chachoengsao factory participated in the local commemoration event, which included a merit-making activity at Wat Sai Chol Na Rungsi temple, and was represented by our Group Quality Manager, Ms. Tippawan. We are proud to stand with our community in promoting a culture of safety and health at work.

At Amazon Colours, we recognize the critical significance of this topic and are committed to continuously improving our Environmental, Health & Safety Policy, training, and management system. We’re currently in early preparation for ISO 45000 certification in our Thailand business to further enhance our safety measures.

Environmental Awards for Amazon Colours

Environmental Awards

At the recent Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT) ceremony held in Bangkok, Thailand, Amazon Colours Thailand received their GOLD STAR AWARD for environmental excellence in 2022. This was the year that our Thailand factory was awarded both a Gold Star Award and a Silver Eco Factory Award by the Thai Government.

GOLD STAR AWARD:

The Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT), the government body under the Ministry of Industry overseeing industrial estates, has awarded Amazon Colours  a Gold Star Award for excellence in environmental management for six consecutive years.

The award forms part of the IEAT’s Environmental Government and Safety project which ensures that factories in Thailand’s industrial estates comply with the principles of environmental governance, sustainability and pollution reduction. Compliance is monitored by a collaboration between government and private sector, with the IEAT cooperating with surrounding communities to keep an eye on factories’ environmental management practices. Factories that are compliant receive a Green Star Award each year.

An Industrial Factory Audit Working Group monitors and assesses factories according to 10 key criteria:

  1. Drainage and waste water management
  2. Waste reduction
  3. Air pollution management
  4. Handling of chemical vapours and volatile organic compounds
  5. Safety of working conditions
  6. Accident management and number of complaints
  7. Provision and maintenance of green areas
  8. Enhanced quality of life for surrounding communities
  9. Efficient transportation of raw materials and products
  10. Accuracy of information and management systems benchmarked against international standards.

Amazon Colours has consistently received the Green Star Award for the last 6 years and this year proudly received its Gold Star Award.

ECO FACTORY AWARD:

Amazon Colours is also the first factory in the TFD Industrial Estate to receive an Eco Factory Award in 2022.

The development of “eco-industrial cities” forms part of the Thai Government’s National Strategic Plan (2018-2037), which promotes thatindustry needs to coexist harmoniously with the communities where they operate to ensure sustainable growth.  The Plan’s objectives include the upgrade and development of a network of eco-industrial factories in accordance with environmental and social governance guidelines, as well as the collection of data that can be used to plan and develop eco-industrial cities.
