For the last few weeks, people across Thailand have been planting marigolds in dedication to His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej. The government has urged the public to grow the marigolds or other yellow flowers, as yellow represents Monday, the birth day of His Late Majesty.
In Thailand marigold (“dao ruang”) flowers represent good fortune, hence their popularity and use as good luck garlands and decorative floral arrangements for Buddhist festivals, weddings and other special occasions. The planting of the flowers has been planned for them to blossom in time for the Royal Cremation Ceremony from October 25th – 29th.
The yellow marigolds outside the Amazon Colours’ office stand in tribute and dedication to the legacy of His Majesty.
